Help needed - Wimpey Homes Research Paper - Period 1985-1994

New Build Inspections

Hi there,

Bit of an odd request. I'm working on a paper on newer housing, and I'm really keen on getting hold of any old marketing materials for Wimpey Homes. Ideally after site plans, house types, elevations and plans etc.

I've tried Wimpey, who were no help. My local authority was exceedingly helpful and have provided a lot of architects type drawings, which are really useful, but I'm after the promotional material that was produced to support the development.

I wonder if any kind forumites might have bought a Wimpey home during this period and may still have copies of the originals. Additionally, if any forumites lived in a Wimpey home during this period they may be kind enough to recollect their experience of buying their home.

Thanks so much.

Ps - sorry had no idea what forum to post this in

ps - to join in the fun of the forum, I bought a Wimpey home myself in 2002. It was a two bedroom middle terrace 'Beta' house from their 'Optima Collection'. Although I was very happy with my new home, problems included - downstairs toilet / porch that leaked, a shower fitted the wrong way....I paid for chrome light switches and only got those 9 months after moving in.....my kitchen cupboards had no handles for 4 weeks (because in the end I gave up complaining, took a screw driver and took the ones from the Show Home). Happy days.

That's a bit harsh.

I'm after the marketing materials brochures etc to tie up what they represented versus the houses people bought.

A bit harsh? I was actually trying to help you with someone who may have what you want!
Doesn't mean I have to like him though as you will find out!

I know that and I appreciate your guidance. On this occasion NewHomesHistorian is not able to help me, I don't think. I'd PM you but I don't know if you can on this site.

In any event, hoping some other kind forumite might be able to help me.

No one else will help you with this on this forum.
They are mainly only interested in their own problems.
Pester "New Home Historian" as you now know he has what you want and has said he will send them to you.
