Hi, out of interest, which site is it that you have bought your new home? We are at the very early stages of a new TW house in an Edinburgh development. I have already been advised on keeping in with the site manager so have his name and production managers name to keep track on this whole process.

At least you know the names of the people you will probably be complaining about to CEO Pete Redfern once you have moved in!

Hi Laura, have you moved in yet? I've moved into a development in midlothian, just outside edinburgh. Been in a while now and all good. Seriously, get to know your site manager, they can be really helpful. I got my back garden done by a landscaper recently but saved a fortune on some materials like chips, gravel and slabs by asking the site manager. He supplied me these items for free! Also, he gave me tubs of the paint they use for round the house, as I have an 18month old daughter who tends to get her sticky paws all over the walls! Very handy having the paint to touch up walls myself.

Good luck with your move, hope,it goes well for you!

Site Managers often give you paint so you can do your own snagging!
Its easier for the site and site manager.
Giving buyers "free" materials also make it harder for anyone but the most two-faced ars**oles to complain about their house or the site manager to senior directors later on too.

But someone is paying for these "free" gifts of materials, usually the sub contractors.
So in essence the site manager is stealing them on your behalf and you are receiving stolen goods in the eyes of the law.
Even if the trades' foreman gave his blessing, these materials are not his to give away either.

Yawn! Yet another negative post from NHE. Glad I was sitting down to read that, I might have fallen over with the shock.

As it goes, the painting was done by TW prior to them giving me the paint.

As you should well know, across any and all industries, there is always goods available for goodwill gestures, hospitality, corporate events etc etc. it is a way for companies to cement relationships with customers. It makes absolute business sense. stealing indeed. I've heard it all now! Pitiful attempt to continue the negative theme of all your posts.

Hi Bear! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I didn't see this post until now! We have a possible moving date of 12th September now, so we are getting there :) which site are you at? We have bought a new build at Cameron Gardens, Midlothian. Glad to hear all is going well. We have been given a landscaper's details to arrange garden getting done the week we move in, possibly before with the go ahead from site manager. We also asked for spare paint and tiles to be left which they are happy with so it's all good so far. :)

Hey Laura,
We're up at arniston vale, so not far! I spent a lot of time at the show homes in Cameron gardens when we were doing our options. It's a lovely development.

Some of our neighbours had their gardens done by the sub contractor used on this site, the name begins with "4" and ends in "Easons". Not many people have been happy with the end product, so might be worth checking with your future neighbours if it is same co you have the number for! We got a friend to do our garden, he's based in Dalkeith - happy to send you his details.

All the best with your move!

Calling all Taylor Wimpey new home owners.

Please make a post and tell the World what you think of your Taylor Wimpey new home.
Why just Taylor Wimpey, we are all n the same boat, in my case Story Homes, why can’t we all write to our MP,s and complain about ALL new homes as they are S1HT and knocked up for bonuses by a bunch of the cheapest tradesmen (sorry for calling them that) working for money not quality.

We ALL need to write our problems to your MP.s and the Housing Officer in the Houses of Parliament- I have please ALL do the same if not more innocent people will be hoodwinked as we were/are.
