Survey vs snagger

New Build Inspections

Not only am I planning on buying my first new-build house - but in fact my first property period. I haven't even reserved yet as the plot is still showing its status as coming soon - I want to reserve as soon as it becomes available. Should I get a survey done by someone recommended by my solicitor or should I get a snagging company to do it? My partner thinks that neither are required (we're cash-buyers so it's not essential for a mortgage) but I am cautious & I don't trust anyone.

speak to the neighbours ... ask them what kind of an experience they have had

otherwise new builds = snaggers
1th century cottages = surveyors

I've never been to the area (not yet), it's 300 miles away, might sound foolish to some - but in my area the same house would cost 3 to 4 times as much & I simply do not have that kind of money.
