We are looking to buy a Linden home in Birtley. Because the development is so far on, the house remaining have already had their kitchens chosen so we don't get any choice.

We've managed (after some time) to find a house with a kitchen that has been chosen we like. However, they have also chosen the bathroom tiles which we don't like.

We have asked them if they would consider allowing us to choose our own tiles or even swap with another empty property but they have said no.

They may now potentially lose our sale as I don't fancy paying £230k without getting to choose kitchen or bathrooms.

Should I try the head office? the sales people at the site are a bit useless to be honest.

Housebuilders don't need to try or compromise to get a sale.
But consider why the Linden needed to pre select kitchens bathrooms and wall tiles and why so many homes are available for sale and have not sold before they were completed.

If they try hack off tiles the plasterboard would be damaged.
    Walk away!

The tiles aren't in the house yet otherwise I would never have asked.

I know what you're saying and understand materials have to have been ordered at this stage.

They have now come back and allowed us to choose the tiles but we're still not happy that also the specification of the house has changed and doesn't include some of the original fixture and fitting.

Looks like it is time to walk away....
