New Build Inspections

Hi,

We are currently going through a nightmare situation with Miller homes with a purchase of a new build.

We completed end of Jan this year and since then we allowed Miller Homes to keep our keys so they could resolve the snagging items for us which are stopping us from moving in - they claim its cosmetic however for example one of the issues was the inability to lay the floor due to high points on the concrete, we cant lay they turf because the soil hasn't been leveled etc ... and this is only the start. They have incorrectly wired the light switches which means they need to come and re-wire and will mean a lot of plaster work etc. we have been paying the mortgage since end of Jan and still haven't moved in. Is there any form of compensation we can claim as we have made umpteen complaints and the regional manager told us they will sort it and its all cosmetic.

Any help or advice would be welcomed.

Use your building gaurentee and get them to inspect everything, they will instruct miller homes, then simply claim for compensation. Contact the local press...they like that sort of story

HAVE A PICTURE OF THE GARDEN THEY GAVE ME WITH SUITABLE DRAINAGE AND TOPSOIL, COST ME £3K JUST TO FIX THE DRAINS AND REMOVE ALL THE BUILDERS MATERIAL THEY HAD LEFT...NOW TAKING THEM TO COURT

The builder has a defects liability period of two years normally within the terms of your 10 year New home warranty

Words like guarantee are just not used In this case
