Our driveway has drainage where the driveway meets the outside path. Some of the fins of the grate have snapped off as shown in the image and I am looking at getting the grate changed. I have found the supplier of the exact same product and it is only £9.30 per metre (bargain!).
But I notice these are A15 grade and are only suitable for light vehicles and pedestrians. Our neighbours have EVs and their grates are totally buckled. They have had ridiculous quotes to replace the drainage system, including removing the grate, channel and driveway blocks (totally uneccessary!)
Before I attempt to replace my grates I wonder if the developers should pay for upgrades. It is clear that A15 is not suitable for EVs as they have static weights of 1.8t and the A15 grade is only valid for 1.5t. I also read that even lighter cars can exert more force when breaking or turning on the grates. So should I complain to the developers that the installation is flawed and that they should come back and replace the grills with B125s?
