i hve just had the NHBC around as a result of complaint about creaking floors

    the inspector , didnt ask the builder to move furniture or lift the carpet

    my furniture moves like a wave as you cross the floor

    verdict ...just by looking. its OK

    is there any test we can perform to show its moving.?????

    its essential that the builder comes geared up to remove carpet and the floor , or sometimes to ceiling from the room below needs to be investigated

    common mistakes in fitting 22mm floor boaring to timber or manufactured joists are

    not gluing joints
    not gluing flooring at joists
    not strutting or noggining between joints
    incorrect spacing of joists
    joists not secured to walls
    stud walls moving and not being secure to floor

    lack or no screws to chipboard flooring
    tiling directly onto chipboard and not using a decoupling layer
