Help...Bovis has changed the plans of our house!

We purchased a Bovis homes Canterbury back in November 2016 that is due to be finished in July this year... we've just be informed that they are now changing the roof from a pyramid hip style to a normal gable which of course completely changes the look of the property as it effects the way the front bay window is finished as well. As we weren't informed until this week and we didn't give consent I realise we are within our rights to pull-out of the purchase but of course we're liable for our solicitor costs. Extremely disappointed at Bovis as we always considered them to be one of the more reputable and professional companies out there. Has anyone on here got any advice?

Have they given any reasons for this change ie was it planning requirement or their own economic decision. Has there been any change in the pricing as a result of any economic savings they have made from their decision or maybe compensation for not delivering what you agreed to pay for. Not sure Bovis has the reputation you are being led to believe from the comments on this site.

If it's of any value, we live in a Canterbury, designed and built by Bovis and have a gable style roof. It's lovely, and has heaps of space in the loft area and is beautifully finished over the master bedroom bay window. Not 100% sure on the legality of compensation based on a change of plan, but may be worth checking on the planning permissions and why they've decided to make the decision. Good luck.

Under the consumer code for builders any significant change to design or specification must be made to buyer ...and normally the opportunity to pull out of sale is offerred

Misled .....talk to a specialist construction solicitor
