Gutter came off house

New Build Inspections

We moved into our Miller house in the autumn and had problems with the gutter at the front of the house being severely choked, which was fixed. First heavy snowfall and the whole thing ripped off the front of the house. We checked the bracket and there is just a small screw in there. As soon as it thaws it's likely water will go into the gap caused by the gutter falling off. Millers is saying it's likely to just be winter damage. They won't get a plumber to check until the snow is off the roof. Has anyone else had this problem?

Update: Miller Scotland East customer service now say they won't send anyone to inspect it and they will not even consider any snagging issues connected with guttering regardless of whether it was an installation problem or not. In their opinion any problems are solely for the owner to resolve and should be claimed on house insurance and the bad weather absolves Miller of all responsibility. This isn't what was said the previous week, nor - importantly - when we were sold the house. Seems that snagging promise was worthless in this case. Now looking at what further action to take.

Hi

I am not sure if you have resolved this issue or not, however if not i would be inclined to raise the issue with the NHBC and have them deal with your complaint through their resolution process. If you can clearly demonstrate that the guttering was not correctly fixed in the first instance i.e. with inadequate screws, then Miller should rectify the problem as a defect that has arisen within the first 2 years of the warranty.
