We've been in our new build for about 18 months now. We've still got a few outstanding issues. However, one of which has been reported shortly after completion regarding water ingress from a french door situated in our master bedroom. Having had 4 attempts at the fix over a period of 18 months now, the issue still have not been resolved and becoming abit of a headache.
The issue has extended for such a period simply because we're unable to determine if a fix has been successful until the relevant weather conditions occur i.e. exposed to driving rain against the door dependant on the direction of wind etc.
Over the space of the 4 attempts, the builders door/window contractor has made attempts to -
1) replace mastic seals surrounding the door frames
2) adjusted both doors for tighter lock/seal
3) replaced some of the door seals
4) added spacers to the door hinges
5) removed and replaced the cill attached to the door frame
Unfortunately it appears the issue has still not been fully resolved as some water is still working its way around the exact same area. Leaking around the corner edge of the left door (shown in the pictures).
Based on the nature of the issue, anytime a fix is applied we won't know if the issue has been fixed until relevant weather conditions occur which can be months before we know. I'm concerned that we're getting close of the 2 year warranty period, and no further forward. I'd assume as this has been reported within the warranty period the builder will still be liable to fix this. All correspondence has been via email to the builder, including relevant photos and descriptions.
Each time we report the matter, it can take 4-5 weeks before anything is scheduled to look at the matter. We've not had to raise with NHBC, as the builder is still taking the issue on (but slowly particularly their contractor).
Just wondered if any advise can be give on this matter with a view of reaching a better and quicker outcome to rectify things.
Based on the attempts described, I'm rather lost as to what else they do next. What is the next reasonable step, request the full set of doors are replaced?
