Drainage issue

New Build Inspections
Hoping for some help. I’m no expert so sorry if the language isn’t correct.

Short version of the story:

discovered drains were leaking in to the garage via the hole for the condensation pipe for the boiler. No damage caused to items in garage but obviously sewer water is not what you want in your garage (potential damage to boiler but this complicates the story).

Drains were blocked. Got company out to unblock drains. The discovered harcore in the pipe and didn’t like the noises they were hearing. Put a camera down the pipe. Found sitting water, a dent in the pipe but not burst, and points were there were lips (pipes connected but at different heights so sewage and paper etc would likely get caught in the pipe) and said the gradient of the pipe was likely wrong.

I am 3 years in my house so planning to contact the builder and NHBC. I’ve read some other threads and it seems NHBC often refuse to sort the drains.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with this?

Always best to give the NHBC a call ...but typically unless it's a structural issue they will not do anything

You may want to consider a claim on your insurance if you are out of your warranty period

Thank you for your reply. I tried reading NHBCs policy more in depth and if I understand it correctly the pipes need to be laid at a gradient of 1:80. If it is found that the pipes are at the wrong gradient might that come under the part of the policy that states “protection provided against structural defects where your homes has not been built to our Technical Requirements”. That coupled with the fact sewage water was leaking into my garage…

Thanks for any help of thoughts you may have.
