We've been in our detached house for a year now and over the last few months cracks are becoming apparent. I thought 'ok it's just drying out' until I realised they were localised.
To explain, our house is square to NSEW with front door on south. In back garden, north, and down east side, runs a large sewer/encasement/covenanted land. Cracks have appeared on our inside walls, at joints, mostly in the NW corner and some on the N facing wall. Also the ground floor doors running N-S, which used to close easily with good clearance, are now impossible to close. A big-ish tapering crack now goes up from one door frame. E-W doors are all fine.
Maybe unrelated but when we walk through the kitchen (SW room) pans rattle ... I know we're big but?!
After completetion some rough ground directly adjacent to us (up to our W wall) was levelled, compacted (shaking whole house) and tarmac'ed.
I've checked for step cracking outside but can't see any.
We've got the builder coming in soon to deal with yet more issues. Any advice on if the issues above are normal if should I be concerned?
