What should the builder do to rectify this brickwork?

  1. Re-build the front elevation

    Hi all,

We are in between exchange and completion and with the scaffolding now finally down I've been able to take a look at the brickwork in context.

What I've found is some very odd colour variation which makes no sense to me. Perhaps the builders failed to mix the bricks properly or ran out. Please take a look at the attached photo. What you will see is a distinct colour change on the front elevation from the first floor into the second.

I have raised my concerns with the builders and await their response.

    I'd be very grateful if someone could let me know;

    1) Whether my complaint is reasonable
    2) What the options are to remedy the situation
    3) What is the minimum I should accept as a response to the situation.

Any advise would be hugely helpful.

    Many thanks.

    Nick

    hi nick
the brickwork is clearly a differing colour ...speak to builder , they are going to have to get the brick tinters in to make them match on at least that elevation or all if all affected

this is not a batching problem ....its a different colour brick and its not acceptable

contact the NHBC IF BUILDER REFUSES

    Hi Steve,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I thought as much based on logic and fairness, but I was lacking any experience in this area.

I will insist that they make good on this or else I shall be forced to report them to the NHBC and commence my naming and shaming campaign!

    Thanks again for your support.

    Kind regards,

    Nick
