Bloor Homes, Lyme Regis (Woodberry Copse) - DON'T BUY

New Build Inspections

My number one recommendation to anyone thinking of buying from Bloor Homes in Lyme Regis is: DON'T. The location looks beautiful and the house pictures look great, but they are the worst builders I have ever dealt with (and this is my third new-build).

There are so many things wrong that I won't have time or space to list everything.

- Forced to use their solicitors for part exchange (who then tried to make us sign a form saying it was our own free will)
- Bringing forward the previously-agreed completion date once we had spent too much on deposits / solicitors etc to withdraw: effectively do what we say or the deal is off
- Property not finished to the sales spec
- Property not built to local authority approved planning permission
- Safety items bodged to get NHBC sign-off (such as banisters and handrails) which have either failed or been removed and not replaced
- Working outside their agreed curfew (including having loads of aggregate dumped outside my house at 7am on Saturday mornings)
- Dangerous electrics
- Non-existent customer service for fault rectification
- Appointments for fixes made but not kept
- Continual lies from on-site staff
- No replies to letters & emails addressed to CEO Adrian Bloor
- Two different site managers couldn't even tell me who was responsible for building control

All the above have happened to us in a few short months. Many of our neighbours are in the same boat so we aren't unique. It is quite strange that the unsold houses *are* completed properly: once you're under contract, they stop work on pretty much everything. Imagine what it feels like to watch tradesmen fix something on an empty house when you have been waiting for months for them to do the exact-same work on your own one.

Due to stress I've had a medical recommendation to get away from the place. Selling an unfinished house is going to lose us a fortune, but it might be the only way to save my health, sanity & marriage.
