Hi
I brought a house from Avant homes in Derbyshire about a year and a half ago . As soon as I moved in I was noticing issues straight away which I told the site manager as requested. I knew straight away that I was going to have issues with getting the snagging list sorted as they didn’t seem interested and were fobbing me off and making stupid excuses . I was shocked by the tiling , it looked like they had just pulled someone off the street to do it and the skirting boards and painting was just ridiculous. The stair case was coming down at an angle to the rest of the house , to this day the upstairs toilet has not been fitted correctly and I darn use it . It took 8 plumbers to find a leak in the bathroom. The list goes on , I was shocked at the attitude of the management and I’ve emailed the CEO lots of times . Anyway I had an snagging inspection survey done who came up with around 70 different issues , this was back in October time . I’ve sent this to Avant who advised they would look at it and I’ve never heard anything back it 5 months . I just can’t understand how these building companies can get away with it , I’m feel like going on social media and naming ‘ shaming them and posting all the picture of the appalling workmanship as well . I went to the NHBC ages ago when I knew Avant homes were just fobbing me off . NHBC referred me to the adjudication service but I’ve looked into this and it seems that they more than often side with the house builder .
I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues in the past , as I see my options as going through a solicitor’s or going through the adjudication service. I just want the house that I brought off them to look like it should . I’ve had a new build before and it was perfect compared to this , I just can’t see how they can get away with building crap homes for people and getting away with it , I really wished that I had read the reviews before purchasing a property off Avant homes .
