    Please help!!

I could be wrong but i'm not convinced you'll have much luck here i'm afraid. As others have stated Help to Buy has meant a big upswing in the number of new builds selling. I've read more and more posts on this forum and others about how it's very difficult to get builders to offer anything...

    My Purchase So Far....

That's a very fair point NHE. I guess what i'm trying to say is while by rights all new homes should be finished perfectly the reality is they aren't in the majority of cases. On this site and others i've read about people having far more serious faults than I have and also it being a nightmare...

    My Purchase So Far....

No NHE obviously i'm not happy that there were things that weren't done correctly that should have been. I am happy however that they're putting it right quickly and that i'm not having to fight them about it as some posters have reported.

    My Purchase So Far....

Ok so i've had builders in the last 2 days and they are getting our issues rectified. There were issues with the front, back and patio doors which have all been fixed as has our blocked downstairs toilet. We also had an issue with a pipe we paid to have fitted between the under stairs cupboard...

    My Purchase So Far....

Actually the reason it's Thursday is we wanted to be there to point out everything to the builder and we were working til then. He did offer to send someone the same day so it's not as bad as it seems.

    My Purchase So Far....

None of that surprises me in the slightest NHE but it's pretty horrendous isn't it? I guess it's not only the bankers who only care about bonuses and money! I did find pout from the sales staff that it was the contract manager who decided move in dates and i did find it a little odd. I thought...

    My Purchase So Far....

Thank you both for your replies. Abbottswalk a website is a good idea but one i'll hold in reserve until I see what they're actually going to do to sort out my issues. In terms of moving before Christmas it wasn't fun and I can promise i'll never do it again! NHE yes the house was rushed and...

    My Purchase So Far....

Ok so I purchased a Barratt home in the northeast recently. We reserved back in June and got them to throw in appliances and flooring throughout. We were initially told that our home would be ready in November. This was pushed back to December and as the end of November approached we were told...

NHBC 2013 Quality Awards: Good for Barratt, a disaster for Persimmon

I'm buying a Barratt home, woo hoo! Also i looked at a Persimmon home and i can well see why they're doing so badly in the awards.

    Buying Extras

You're right NHE it isn't reasonable but it is what it is. I know it's more expensive but there is the seduction of the idea of it all being done for when we move in. I wouldn't ever pay the full prices as they're pretty ridiculous from what i've heard which was why i wondered if the builders...

    Buying Extras

Hi Everyone, We reserved a new build with Barratts and are approaching our exchange date. We managed to negotiate a few extras thrown in but will be having a meeting with the sales person to go through anything additional we might want to pay for like extra sockets, turf out back etc. I have...

Taking builder to small claims court, can it be done?

Hi NHE, Thanks for the advice. I already mentioned my plans in my other thread but to recap I advised them very early on i would be getting the place professionally snagged and i'll remind them of that nearer the time. I also went to have a chat with some people who've already bought on the...

    Buying with Barratt

Hi abbotswalk, I've just checked out the help to buy documentation and i have three months to exchange following authority to proceed, it doesn't mention completion so i think so long as we exchange we're ok :)

    Buying with Barratt

Thanks for the advice NHE and Ryan it's helped lots. To keep you all up to date we reserved the property yesterday and now have 28 days to exchange. It was written into our reservation agreement that we only need to exchange on 1k and the rest is due at completion. Completion is Nov-Dec so my...

    Buying with Barratt

Thanks Ryan, I am taking on board everything you and NHE are saying and believe me i have no intention of doing anything rash! The only incorrect thing you said was about help to buy, the mortgage guarantee element doesn't start til January but the equity loan element we want has been live...

    Buying with Barratt

Well actually we did fill out an early bird on this property. When we were looking initially not all of the first phase properties had sold (there's still 4 available now) and she was very clear that the next phase wouldn't include our property either so naively we thought that would give us the...

    Buying with Barratt

Hmmm well the plot thickens where my potential purchase is concerned. As i said in previous posts my fiance and I are looking to buy a new build property using help to buy later this year. We found a house we were interested in but it's in a later phase of the development and weren't expecting...

Laurel Place, Slough - First Timer with lots of questions!

I went to view a persimmon show home in the north east this weekend and all i can say is yikes! We genuinely weren't looking for problems but saw at least 10 different snags in the ten minutes it took us to look round. Bear in mind the house in question sells for a minimum of 280K and surely the...
