Does anyone have a bad after sales experience with Stewart Milne which they would like to share. Two years after moving into our home we are still trying to get Stewart Milne to complete outstanding snagging items but beyond belief has been the appalling level of customer service that we have experienced. Their aftersales organisation is the worst ever encountered!!

 We are having an extremely bad after sales experience with Stewart Milne on the Linburn Grange development in Dunfermline. All the residents are having major problems with snagging (not just the volume of snags but the severity of the snags - one resident has had up to 9 floods in 4 weeks. There is no process in place for you to report snags & get them fixed. Things came to a head a few weeks ago when the local Herald & Post paper ran an article for us. Stewart Milne promised to have everything done in 2 weeks. Some 5 weeks down the line we are still having problems - especially dodgy workmanship - e.g. windows replaced with even more scratched glass, painters getting paint all over the flooring, stair cases left unattached to walls, etc. etc. Some people have involved solicitors because its that bad. The ironic thing is that they are opening up a new site (Woodmill Gardens) in Dunfermline - so we'll be left in the lurch while they rake in more money.... Never buy Stewart Milne

One thing in their favour is consistency - Their Linen Fields development is now enjoying a similar high quality level of finish.

If it is any consolation they are not the worst builder around - but are trying [very]

They are supposed to fix problems in 15 days if you inform Uddingston (and if workmen are on site - which they are of course). I've just sent my snagging list in, so I'm hoping for some success. Poor workmanship and buider attitude at Linburn Grange is what I'm finding.

I have had no end of problems with Stewart Milne since I bought my house 18 months ago. These houses are marketed and priced as quality homes which couldn't be further from the truth. The workmanship is disgraceful and management staff are worse. My advice... from day one...establish one person at Stewart Milne who is to deal with everything from start to finish in respect of your purchase, snagging etc and don't deviate from this person...don't pick site or sales staff for this...pick someone much further up the ladder and don't buy until this is agreed!! Do not befriend any of the staff..this is business not pleasure (believe me!) Keep a record of abslolutely everything. Dates, times, problems names of workmen, damage they subsequently cause, etc etc (it's usually three forward two back with this crowd!). Have a witness at every meeting and get EVERYTHING in writing before proceeding. NB You will need a sense of humour dealing with this crowd!!

Linburn Grange is not achieving the 15 working day snagging deadlinem to fix things - how foolish of me to think they might!
Only a small proportion (less than 25 percent) resolved so far, and too many visits to 'inspect' some of the problems.
I never thought it could be so disappointing, and this is my fourth new build property. So poor it's unbelievable.

Well, I have been in my house at Linburn Grange since May 07 (nearly 10 months) and I have jobs that were reported on the day we moved in that still haven't been done. There have been a whole heap of excuses but not much in the way of action. My roof leaked the other week in 4 places and I was basically told I should expect that to happen because it was so windy!! Never heard the likes.

What is really annoying us at the moment is the lack of landscaping that has been done. We were in the first cul-de-sac to be completed and it has been since about August last year and they still haven't managed to do any landscaping. We have paid £100 for the privilege of folks coming to 'see' to the landscaped areas. Would help if they had naything to see to! Its just mud, mud & more mud. Shocking. Again, loads of excuses as to why its not been done. Yet the Miller Homes development beside us is looking really smart and well landscaped. Why can't Stewart Milne manage it. What I found bizarre that they somehow managed to landscape the showhouses at their new Woodmill Gardens development (all but 5 minutes away from us) yet the weather is so adverse on Linburn Grange that they can't landscape for us......

Still would never recommend them to anyone.

You can check whether the landscaping has been done according to the plans by visiting www.ukplanning.com Then look for Fife Council, then application 06/00431/WFULL
The landscaping plan is near the bottom of the list and opens as a pdf which you can zoom in on as required. I'll try to attach it anyway.
My planting is exactly as it should be (although a different shape) with plant numbers being exactly correct.
I hate to seem as though I'm defending Stewart Milne, but I think the factoring payment includes the Miller part of the estate as well. Let's face it, there is almost no landscaped area on Linburn Grange which can justify the charges we are paying (myself included, and I'm in the middle of the current building area)
