Having found this very interesting website .......re Stewart Milne Homes......I thought I'd let u all kno what has happened to us ! Our mains water pipe under the sink burst the other night at 2am n we had 3 inches of water on the ground floor of our lovely new home that we have had for nearly 2 years. All carpets flooring etc etc have been ruined.
We had a few problems with snagging but not 2 bad compared to some of the horror stories on this site. We are wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem with water leaking into their home from the piping?
Emergency call out plumber wouldn't say why it had happened..very non commital. Did mention settling on the house.. our site is also very wet as some others have said. We have tried to get this sorted by SM but no joy.. Hoping for any replies or comments? SM been quite helpful despite us not being able to contact the customer services dept on the day it happened for clarification for insurance. We are having to claim ourselves. SM have however sent down help to lift carpets etc.
Having had this problem in our first new home we know how much hassle this is gonna be.
Lucky white heather eh ?.........comments please ??
They are liable for sure, but will try to get you to claim on your home insurance policy. To be honest this is probably the easiest option, but it will affect your no-claims and make future policies more expensive.
Thanks For Ur Comments Tony..having Spoken To Our Insurance Company They Will Try To Claim Back Off Sm But I Would Think For Them To Admit Liability Will Be As Difficult As Scotland Winning The World Cup Mate !!!

The insurance company has deeper pocket than you and me and lawyers on staff. It will take them a couple of years but they will get the money from Stewart Milne. Still means that your premiums go up...
