Default I am looking for a good solicitor

Dear All,

Could someone recomend me a good london based solicitor who is familiar with snagging issues?

I have bought a flat in central london in a building (102 units) built by Buxton Homes. I am deeply disatisfied with the level of service Buxton has provided.

The workmanship provided is generally substandard. The common areas (hall, lifts, courtyard…) are in a dreadful state if they have been completed at all despite tenants having moved 6 months ago. The bicycle parking gets regularly flooded. The exterior cladding has been hastily assembled and is uneven. Balconies are still boarded up. Snagging is excruciatingly slow and disorganized. Subcontractors are cutting corners as there is no quality control per say. Communication from Buxton Homes is non-existent even after having received registered letters from my part asking them to detail what kind of work they intend to complete.

In light of the above, I am trying to get the other owners organised as construction defects are widespread. I am also of a mind of getting my flat professionally surveyed and then getting my own builders in to correct the outstanding defects.

Anyone can recommend a solicitor who is familiar with such issues?

Best regards

Hi there,

Have you tried ringing the Law Society and asking them to find you a list of solicitors based near you that deal with housing issues?
They helped us out with a good solicitor.

Only trouble with the Law society is they do not give any indication of whether a solicitor has good, bad or indifferent record. The legal complaints service legalcomplaints.org.uk/home.page do not publish solicitors names that have had action taken against them.
I would recommend word of mouth or a rate your solicitor type website such as solicitor.info

Hope this helps
