Default New Home should i accept keys yet

Hi

I wonder if anyone could help. we have just bought a new home from Wainhomes. the contracts have been exchanged and i have given them a snagging list of over 6 pages. We have only signed the contract for the house. we have not moved in yet or sined for the keys etc as we are waiting for the snagging to be done first however, the bulider is taking his time. we have been putting pressure on them but no luck

Should i accept the keys and move in or not?

Thank you, i would appreciate any advice

Hi Debbie,

You probably have no choice if you read the contract, which your solicitor signed on your behalf, you will find that it probably states that legal completion cannot be delayed because of minor snagging. If you do delay completion, you will have to pay the builder interest for every which can add up to a large amount very quickly. A professional snagging inspection may identify items that would provide grounds to delay completion, but this is quite uncommon.

Kind regards,

Tony
