When flushing my loo, the kitchen sink gurgles!

I'm posting this in the hope that I can get some guidance from anyone who would know a lot more than I!!

When I flush my toilet in the upstairs bedroom, the kitchen sink gurgles. To me this implies some kind of environmental health issue. Can you help?

Hi Emanuel,

It sounds like you have more problems that just the chimney and the roof.

This could be caused by a lack of ventilation in the stack (the drain). Basically when the toilet is flushed air should be pulled from the top of the stack, probably in the loft. If this is blocked it will pull air from the sinks making the sound you hear. Eventually, it will start to smell.
