Default LEAKING WINDOWS: WHAT SHALL WE DO?

The builders have had the window company back x8 or x9 times now to our house. They have adjusted and readjusted the windows and replaced sashes and handles galore which were damaged. The windows leak from every corner and continue to leak AFTER their adjustments.

They have removed high spots and increased the cam setting so the windows close tighter, which they found and did after the x8th or x9th attempt! They always come on a still day when there is no wind.

Our back rooms and upstairs toilet take the brunt of the wind and you can easily feel it.

What should we do?

I want to get an independent company in to inspect the windows and advise whats wrong and how to fix it, but they wont do this.

I have been told by a friend that there is a piece of ultrasound equipment which can detect leaks in windows. it sits in the middle of the room and emits signal which is detected around outside of windows. Does anyone have any details of this?

I know about the blower test. Is that good? Is there any other test beside the one they advised which is a sheet of paper? We can use the flame or incense test, but they don't do that when they are here!

any good advice welcome.

thanks

angus

It might be worth getting a quote from a local and reputable double-glazing company to carry out an independent inspection. I wouldn't expect to pay more than £100 for this - this will have more credibility than any test you carry out yourself.

I hope this helps
