Lounge flooded due to Illiegal plumbing in Persimmons home - any advice ???

Hi there I'm new to this forum so please be kind,

I purchased a 3 story, 3 bed house from Persimmons 3 years ago as an investmant. The previous friday I got a call from my tennant informing me that the bathroom tap was leaking to the point where it was almost pouring this incurred a cost of £50 as I required a plumber to come out (I couldn't locate the problem) we also found that one of the taps was missing a secure nut (how did Persimmons miss this?). This was followed by a call Saturday morning at 7.30 that the living room was in 1 inch of water, I immediately went round with plumber after some investigation which included bringing up the bathroom floor as that was where the leak was coming from the leak was found behind the toliet in the bathroom. The plumber found that the stack was leaking at the T bend as this had not been properly put together he also noted that the stack was completely illegal as it was not secure to the wall.

I have written a letter to Persimmons explaining in detail what happened including receipts of work carried out and photo's of the stacking and damage caused. But what should I expect back? I'm assuming not much so if that is the cause what is the best way of going after them so they pay the full costs that I had to incure

you will be lucky...


they will try all the tricks to avoid sorting it...

you would be better telling your neighbours and getting them all to write to the builder to confirm all the stacks comply with the regs,,,

make them work for their money,, bog them down with paper work,, write everyday to pester them..
