Default Persimmons Dragging Heels

Hi there,

We moved into a newly built Persimmon home recently and we are finding it impossible for them to come and fix anything on our one month snagging list.
Now i'm not saying we've had the nightmare that some people on these forums have had, as we are all moved in and have no really major complaints.
However the night we moved in, our plumbing sprung a leak and damgaged the ceiling below and then over the following weeks almost every sink, toilet, bath also leaked and caused more damage. The site foreman did come out and advised us to let it dry out and report it on our one month list (the leaks were fixed by their out of hours service.)

I've called and called their customer services and spoken each time to the same guy who promises that he will speak to the site foreman and get him to call me 'today or tomorrow'....i have been told this about 15 times now and have had no calls. I'm inclined to believe the customer services is calling the (new) site foreman but he is just not calling me back.

This is really annoying, but more than this, there is an extractor fan in our en suite, and when i went up to the loft recently, i discovered they haven't ventiliated this properly. Instead of going out a wall or the roof, there is a piece of washing machine type tubing leading from the fan straight into the insulation just lying on top of the en suite ceiling....this obviosuly means that it's possible that the fan is extracting the moisture from the room and then allowing it to puddle on the fan electrics.
I've explained to customer services that this is actually dangerous and an electrician advises me that this shouldn't have passed it's completion certificate like that.

Sooooo, (apologies for length) my question is, where do i go from here? Persimmons or their site agent are dragging their heels and not getting anything done, and in the meantime we're left with a lot of half finished jobs, and potentially dangerous ones.

To give this post some balance though, overall, we were quite happy with most of our new house. Theres some obvious rush jobs and corners been cut which we want fixed, but expected in a new build. The plumbing however has been a nightmare, and their customer services a joke.
Any advice would be gratefully welcomed.

Hi,
You will find that with builders 'the squeeky wheel gets the oil'. They bank on you getting fed up complaining and then they will not have to deal with the problems. I really do beleive that this is a conscious business decision on their part to save a vast amount of time and money.

I have had my new build Pishsimmon home for a year now and I have a tiler finally coming to rectify the broken/poor tiling next week. I still have pathetic water pressure and a hole in the fascia board big enough for a bird to nest in the winter.

I think that the largest housebuilder in the UK could not be this bad and this disorganised in rectifying snags unless they actually wanted to be. The longer they stall, the more likely you will give up on having the snags done by them.

Try a Google search for Persimmon, my website is now No.3! www.Pishsimmon.com
