About this 'snagging'

I'm new to this. The country and buying a newbuild. My husband and I bought a Crest Nicholson home that is scheduled to be completed Oct 26th. We have been shocked at the way developers do business - I'm suprised they get away with all sorts; but I digress. My question is: If I employ one of these 'snagging' inspectors, will the inspector come back to double check that the work has been carried out to code?

By the way: the lady in the front office tried to tell me the home had already been snagged and they didn't forsee any problems - well I'm sure they don't. She also said the only day I could have them inspect would be the day we have our home demo, Oct 23rd. Is that common / acceptable? Should I wait until we complete for this inspection or no?
