My girlfriends not happy with Mark Group, also known as Mark Insulations Ltd. When she looked up in the loft, there were large areas of loft insulation missing. The builder said they were contacting Mark Group - Mark Insulations Ltd to get it sorted as they had failed to fully insulate the loft space. That was months ago and she's still waiting![]()
Would the builder be liable for extra cost of my girlfriends heating bill? or should she claim it from Mark Group - Mark Insulations Ltd?
Has anyone else had a problem with the insulation in their home - or lack of it?
And who are Mark Group, Mark Insulations Ltd? Are they any good?
(I originaly posted this thread in the 'absolutely anything' forum - but it didn't get many views so I thought I would try the 'snagging general' forum as it seemed to be relevant)

Hi Saif
In my opinion your claim is with your housebuilder and it is up to them to persue Mark Group afterwards. You have paid for a complete house of a certain standard and you paid the housebuilder for this house. The housebuilder then contracts others to build the house trade by trade.
If a joiner did not install your kitchen directly you would complain to the housebuilder not the joiner. I think this is the same issue.
Regards,
Steve.
Steve is absolutely right, your complaint is with the builder not the subcontractor.

Saif,
Tony and Steve are obviously correct and your girlfriend should focus all her attention and effort on the builder. That being said, I found this on the net. It makes for interesting reading.

Great thing the internet, especially for public documents. Goto No.46 which discusses Mark Insulations Ltd (Mark Group) and the accurate methods of insulating lofts.
This in no way would account for the large areas of missing loft insulation as the document shows that they are accurate in their methods, but it is a rare oppotunity to see behind the closed doors of a subcontractor.![]()
