I think it is disgusting that (for most of us anyway) your home is the biggest purchase you will ever make. Yet you have to accept something so substandard that no one seems to rule over. The house builder can basically treat you how they like.
Having purchased a new home from George Wimpey in Dec 06
we still have lots of snagging issue despite having workmen intruding in our home for over 2 months already.
I have learnt though that basically once they have your money they are basically not interested. They build poorly finished homes (but sold at a high price) apparently allow for snagging so you have to put up with them basically finishing and intruding in your home that you are than paying for (thus saving them interest. They employ workers to do your snagging but tell them to bodge it. I feel sorry for the workmen not paid alot cannot do a proper job because they are not allowed enough time to do it properly so bodge it and so the saga continues you complain again get yet another worker to bodge it.
Have you tried calling the NHBC to register a claim? They give you a claim number then you can email the snagging list to them. I had the site manager call me to arrange a visit one working day after emailing NHBC with my snagging list. There is a link to the NHBC website from my website www.pishsimmon.com
You can read my snagging list on that site too.
