Default fixing snags - access and payment for time off

As part of our snag report we asked that any time off to allow access to the building is chargeable - I'm a contractor and don't get holidays, if I don't work I don't get paid.

Has anyone experienced this or have any advice on how we can counter their refusal - are there any NHBC guidelines ? Several rooms are just not finished, with 100 snags to resolve (over 15 in the master en suite alone). If they had done the work correctly and not rushed the finishing (which it appears to us they have) then there would be no need to follow this course of action.

    All advice greatly appreciated.

This is one of the major disadvantages of buying a new home and there is not much you can do about it really. In theory you could have negotiated something into your contract before exchange, but I don't know of anybody that has done that. Your only option now would be to sue them for compensation. If you want to do this you will need to keep meticulous records. I suggest you talk to your solicitor and would recommend moneyclaim online.

    Hope this helps

The problem is more often than not they turn up late if at all, jobs take longer than expected and they can create more mess than they fix.
