I am about to complete on a new flat by redrow at www.celestia.redrow.co.uk. i purchased this offplan.
I have asked for copies of the architects plans, but i am told we are not allowed to have copies as these are the copyright of the architect.
How am i supposed to snag properly, to check for example that the quantity and position of electrical sockets is correct etc.
can i insist on copies of the plans,
I am due to inspect the property shortly with the site manager, will he accompany us with detailed drawings.
how long do you usually allow to inspect a 1200 sqft 2bed flat, they have given us a 1 hour slot.
Any suggested equipment i take along, i presume a digital camera, and a notebook, a magnifying glass, and lots of pairs of eyes will be useful.
thanks in advance for any assistance.
Hi,
Firstly, one hour is not enough. I would try to get at least two hours and ideally three.
Secondly, the architect plans may be copyright, but you should have been given details of the specification and drawings showing the location of sockets etc. They should have asked you to sign these as this is part of the 'contract' and you should have a copy.
I would recommend speaking to your solicitor to facilitate a longer visit and to get the documents you need.
Kind regards,
Tony
