We have recently purchased a new house and when we went to lay a wood floor in the front hall we found that :-
a) The cement floor is not level (it is higher in the center than it is on the sides near the walls)
b) There is not enough clearance under the front door to lay flooring of any kind.
c) The door can not be raised in anyway.
Also in the same house in several of the rooms it is possible to see where the nails are in the plaster board, both the walls and ceiling, as they are showing up as little round rust marks. The devloper has painted over these with a metal primer, will this work or is it just a quick fix ?
Any useful advice on either of these two issues would be much appreciated.

The developer should fix this otherwise a self levelling cement or compound can be used.
b) There is not enough clearance under the front door to lay flooring of any kind.
You can solve this by leaving a space for a doormat which will allow the door to open and provides a place for people to wipe their feet - there must be some clearance
c) The door can not be raised in anyway.
See above
The concrete needs to be absolutely bone dry and should be properly sealed if you are planning to use solid wood.

Only time will tell, but it will probably last until you have to redecorate.
