Default buying a house in ireland

i've just been given an opportunity to buy a house in ireland (life long dream) but hubby is dragging his feet and now says after 30 years (i don't want to go) so what do i do now how can i convince him he'll be fine after all he was born there not me. But i just love the place and hate to leave after a visit. what i need to know is whether or not i can pay a deposit and hold the prospective new house until this one is sold I don't want to approach the agent cos i don't want to look daft.
many thanks for reading this I would be interested in your comments.

In general terms if you are buying a new house in a development you will be required pay a deposit to secure the house with the remainder to be paid upon signing of contracts. In some cases this may be up to 5-6 months depending on the developer. One way to delay this process is by snagging and refusing to accept handover until the snagging is complete. But you would have to be careful as due to property increases in certain areas of Ireland the developer may attempt tp re-sell the house if he thinks you are trying to delay handover.

Default buying a house in ireland

 thank you for your reply pio,
The house is being sold by an auctioneer and my hubby has now agreed to go (with concessions from me of course) the house we are buying is very old over 100 years, (my dream home) I have no idea what state its in :? but i did spend a few nights in the house in the early 70s and all it consisted of was a kitchen cum diningroom about 20sq foot and 2 small bedrooms so we will have to build on to the back of the house. So now all I have to do is sell the house we are presently living in to be able to buy the house in Ireland. So all I need now is a cash buyer with ?135K to spend on a nice big North East (England) house. :P
