I've been in my new home 6 months and i've noticed some cracks appearing in the door surrounds/architraves similar to this picture http://www.snagging.org/gallery-phot...rchitrave.html
The cracks are not as bad as in the picture but neither were they there when I did the snag list. I'm assuming the cause is the wood has dried and shrunk due to the central heating being in regular use.
Has anyone experienced this before and if so did the builder fix the problem?
This would not be acceptable when you move in and would be a genuine snag. However, after a few months the developer could argue that this was due to normal shrinkage and they would probably be right. However, most would put this kind of defect right, if they have a decent customer care department.
I hope this helps.
