    Default New Garden Lawns.

One of my many problems in my new build home is the state of the lawn that was laid by the builder. Its not flat and as got many bumps and divets as it was laid straight on top of builders rubble. We have tried to improve our garden by taking up some of the lawn to make way for flower beds, but we have to dig out all the bricks and rubble then place a good layer of top soil onto it before we can plant anything.
Its also got a major drainage problem as much of it as water lying on top of it when it rains and much of the grass is now going brown. :x

Is this a problem that i can expect the builder to put right, or am i stuck with it?

 This makes me very angry. It is completely unacceptable. Get on the phone to the customer services director. It will not last a year and will never improve you need at least 100mm of topsoil to make it viable not compacted rubble.

The developer providing a lawn is just a way of hiding zero ground prep/rubble clearance in your front/back garden. I recently lifted a lawn area to plant shrubs. Numerous bricks /stones general site debris were pulled out. The soil was rubbish. Front gardens usually need to be turfed to meet Planning Conditions. A pity that said conditions do not apply to soil depth/quality.

If you can afford it do not get areas turfed by the developer. Do your own stone pick/soil amelioration/turfing.

    Hi
Only 1 month in new house.

I also have similar problem that the garden is extremely uneven and so is the turf. My lawnmower had a bumpy ride and finally damaged the turf.I have spoken to the builders but they say that it is due to lawn mower with grass being cut at a low setting.
can i do anything? My back garden is also same but I have not used my mower as yet !
