Default house appearance

We are a few weeks away from our new house being completed and now that the scaffolding has come down, it is apparent that the front of the house will not look as per the brochure or another house on the property we were told it would be identical too.

The house should have quoins down either side of the front walls which match the lintels and window sills etc; instead it has straight lines of red brick which completely altars the appearance.

Any ideas where we stand on this, anyone?

Thanks

If you look at most brochures/sales info with computer generated images (CGI) they will most likely say some like this is a image reprosentation of the property if may not actually be exact to that image. If there isn't any disclaimer like that you might have a case. You could always ask for the elevation drawings of the building, but they may not always alow you to see the drawings. In regards to another house on the development being different but same house type, this can happen due to different finishes being specified by planners, if you can get hold of the elevations, it will most likey say something like something like plots 1-3 in this finish whilst plot 4 could be in a different finish

i suspect it depends on whether or not they showed you a picture or in any way inferred or wrote that it would be identical etc otherwise it is likely to be the common practice of builders licence which means that they may give you plans but if they deviate from them then tough cheddar. unless you have a contract that specifies down pretty much to the final bolt, you will find that they wriggle e.g. plans say block paving, they put down ill matched gravel, they just say it's a driveway, and that's it. I was amazed that even though they are building to plans, they can substitute inferior items at will and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
