Hi again.
I've been checking the build of my house and have found the place to be plastered but no internal insulation in the walls.
The house is a standard block, and the internal walls are (all non supporting) metal studs (see
link) with single plasterboard on each side.
The building regs say this should either have [type A:] two layers of plasterboard each side of the wall, with joints overlapping, or [type B] single plasterboard with insulation 25mm min thickness and a min density of 10kg/m2.
The plasterboards are not two layers, and there is no insulation in the walls!
Secondly, the floor insulation is (with a few other differences) the same - however I can't see in the floor between the two floors to tell.
So, what do you think I should do at this stage? The wall insulation is not a massive problem as it only applies to the first floor walls and these could be filled with polystyrene pellets from the loft.
The floor boards could be taken up to check, although the big problem is these boards go under the room walls and would be a bigger job to take up to look (the boards are standard norboards).
I might email the NHBC to see what they think, the only problem is they might ask me how I know that there is no insulation... lol
