Default Worried about our new persimmon flat!

Hi there

Unfortunatley I have purchased a Persimmon Ground floor flat, i now wish that i had read all of these horror stories before we put our reserve down.

We havent completed yet and reading these articals has got me in a bit of a panick that we have made the wrong decison and that things are going to go horribly wrong. I was hoping that someone may be able to judge if we are going to be in for a rocky ride or not based on the following, because so far we have had good experiences with persimmon:-

We have not had to pay an initial deposit on the flat, we will be paying 85% of the value of the property for 100% ownership, in 10 years we will pay the remaining price at 0% interest. Surley it is in there interest to rectifiy any problems before we complete as they havent recieved a 10% deposit as usually required?

Are the building regulations different for flats?

Shouldn't any defects such as leaks etc, already be covered by the maintence and service charge we are paying for the flats?

My Boyfriend is training to be a site manager and has said that all the flats he has worked on, the council has been hot on inspections to make sure everything has been done correctly, does this not happen with all buildings?

Will we have to approve the snagging list before they start rectifying any problems?

I have noticed that all of the stories i had read are for houses, has anybody had and bad experiences with a Persimmon Flat?

Ok - I have just found out that they will NOT allow an independant body to snag, nor will they allow you to review or approve the snagging list! We can only discuss things with them on our Home demo, by wihich point we will already have a legal completion date! This is not looking good at all????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT DO I DO?

This is absolute rubbish New Build Inspections has inspected loads of Persimmon Homes, before exchange and before completion. Go to head office.

update on my persimmon flat - been there two months now and I dont really have one complaint regarding snagging, everything seems to be in perefct order other than some slight cracks to skirting paintwork which is to be expected in any new build. I am very happy in my new home.

One thing I will say is that, although I am not paying maintentance until next year anyway, they havent once cleaned the block of flats and considering outside is still pretty much a building site it gets pretty mucky in there.

Things will probably become apparent in time, remember regardless of what they say you can submit a snagging list at any time in the first two years. Obviously, this doesn't include wear and tear.

I have just found this forum. I wish I had found it nearly five years ago. Thats when the still unresolved problems started with our Persimmon home. Buyer beware is all you can say about this company.
Nearly 200 major defects, no insulation, no proper heating for four years.
We are looking forward to sub-zero temperatures to establish if they have actually resolved the heating and insulation problems. Still find it unbelievable when on the first day in our new home we were amazed at how much room there was in the bathroom. However after very close inspection we couldn't find where they had hidden the shower. "Oh there it is still in the compound". They had "forgotten" to fit it.
I am expecting an invitation to the Customer-Don't-Care Xmas party, especially as I spend most of my time talking to them.
Have to go, blood pressure increasing as I type this.
Persimmon Homes have adversly affected our health and wrecked our "dream home".
