Default Steep Garden

Can anybody help?

The garden in my new Persimmon home has a slight slope. My neighbour however has a huge slope. It looks as if it’s at a 45 degree angle.
It looks pretty dangerous and to make matters worse, he has a young child. The only level area of his garden is the patio. After that, it’s very steep.

Is there anything that can be done about this? Are there limits to how steep a new home garden should be? Please help.

Thanks

Hi
The NHBC Standards refer to slopes in the Design Element of Chapter 9.
Ch 9.2 D4

Quote:
(a) slopes
Unless the stability of new or existing slopes has been
determined by an Engineer in accordance with
Technical Requirement R5 the following maximum
gradients apply:
• unsupported granular soil should be 5º less than its
natural angle of repose
• unsupported cohesive soil should not exceed 9º (1:6).
