Default FUTURE PERSIMMONS BUYERS BEWARE - Please Read

I purchased a Persimmons property in December 2006 and I am still in disupte with Persimmon homes over a leaky bathroom ceiling.

I would strongly recommned anyone buying a Persimmon Homes to
1 - NOT DO SO
2 - Get an independant company to Snag check the home
3 - Document any calls / correspondance you make with their so called Customer Care Team - get names and times

I reported a leak coming in though the ceiling of my bathroom (it is a 2nd floor flat) in Feb/Mar 2007.

Getting anyone to come and investigate this outwith their own working time is a complete no go. Persimmon are very unaccomodating this way and constantly inform you that in your missives it states all work would be carried out during their own business hours. Clearly they assume their customers have no jobs to got too !!

Originally I was advised to contact the Site Manager for Sangging (a man who is more skilled in vansihing of the face of the earth tha Houdini). The Site Manager then advises me to go through the Customer Care Team (after I had been dealing with him for about 2 to 4 weeks)

The Customer Care Team only deal with issue when put in writing.
- They never acknowledge your letters
- They never call you back when promised
- They're replies to any correspondance are never prompt
- No courtesy calls to update you on progress of complaints / issues
- You cannot speak to a supervisor
- You constantly have to go through the problems from the beginning each time you call

I had to take drastic action in the end and write to the CEO of Persimmons Home Address before I had a work man in my flat repairing the leak & damage - this was 3 / 4 months after my initial reporting, threatening legal proceedings.

Whilst the leak & ceiling have been repaired I am to this day still waiting for replacement flooring and a reply to my compensation letter which I sent 3 weeks ago.

I strongly urge anyone to be very wary when using Persimmons. They may give you all the golden chat when you are buying but their aftercare is quite possibly the worst I have ever experienced - £102,000 not well spent

Hi Pete

My husband and I(unfortunately) bought a Persimmon home just over 2 years ago. Having read your posting I have to agree with everything you have said. They are all sweetness and light until they get their grubby hands on your money and then their 'customer services' go straight out of the window. We have just discovered that the front canopy over the house is falling off!! Persimmon say that our 2 year guarantee has expired and 'its no longer their problem'. They also say that this is probably due to fair wear and tear!

Surely you don't expect the front of your house to fall down after 2 years. Or maybe with a Persimmon house you do!
Walking around the house (both inside and out) I could cry. There isn't a single room that hasn't got faults, whether it be mis-aligned doors, bad plasterwork or wahtever. I would NEVER reccomend Persimmon to anyone, and the funny thing is that when I tell them this they don't even give a damm!

Hi,

I will back you up there, they are useless, a development is only as good as the site managers are.

I will not post a massive live story of why I hate Persimmon Homes, just read the information on the following link. www.sycamorechase.co.uk

Regards,

Paul

Hi
I dont think that builders are too bothered until they have some negative publicity.
My website www.pishsimmon.com is now in a Readers Digest article on shoddy house builders at: http://www.readersdigest.co.uk/magaz...d04ef5d638f28c
As they say, every little helps.
Steve.

Hi there

I am working on a new consumer TV show, and i am looking into new builds. I have been contacted by people specifically about Persimmons.

I am trying to build up some case studies about them, so that we can highlight them to the public, but i cannot do that without you guys! It does not mena yo9u have to appear on TV, it just means that we can build a solid case to go to them with.

If you have had any problems with your new build then please contact us.

Best Wishes

Matthew

Hi,
We set up a website www.notsogreatworth.co.uk and after a fortnight we had a telephone call yesterday from the MD telling us that he has instructed his Lawyer to close our website down. Now admittedly we had a guest book on there that people put their comments onto and they were far from complimentary about Greatworth Properties plc and I suppose that could be considered defamation of the company especially as people did not put their name to it. However from our point of view we have stated that the website is our experience and views. Interesting that the comments on the guest book were the usual stuff we see on snagging.org. And Greatworth are a small company and consider themselves to be premier builders.
Its right that none of these companies give a damn about what customers say until they get negative publicity. Especially when the company is building several projects around Yeovil.
We are meeting with the MD next week and have suspended the website as a show of goodwill until we hear what the MD had to say to us.
Very very poor state of affairs.
