Could I ask a quick question re damage to the glass of my Patio doors?
Bought new house off Persimmon Homes back in June, and signed the key release.
Next day noticed both panels of the glass was scratched on the Patio doors.
Told site Rep. 'No problem' she said, will be replaced.
Site Manager had a look 'No problem'...
A month or so later another stand in Site Manager had a look ' I'll let customer services know...'

Completed 1 month snagging form - wrote down about glass - nothing happenned.
Contacted customer services - then received a letter saying ' as defect not stated on original key relase form, Persimmon are not liable for any repair'.

Is this so? Do I have a case to take legal action?
Any advice gratefully received....

I might add that Persimmon Homes are the most atrocious, pushy and obnoxious company that I have ever had to deal with.

Hi,

Unfortunately, the key release form is often more than that and it will often include meter readings and a statement that the windows are not scratched. Most people just sign these without really looking and scratches to windows are excluded from snagging once these forms are signed. Developers allow between 1 and 14 days for scratches to be reported.

Kind regards,

Tony

Thanks for your prompt reply. My windows were reported to the site rep. the day after we moved in and noticed the damage.
That is why we did not become unduly concerned that Persimmon were taking a while to come and replace them.
I am appalled that I have paid over £200,000 for a house with such shoddy workmanship!
Obviously a case of caveat emptor when dealing with the likes of Persimmon!

Suggest you keep at Persimmon and don't give up, refer accurately to the discussions you had with their Site Agent and sales staff, dates and times. They work by trying to wear you down don't give up, keep at them.

We've also had horrendous customer service from Persimmon who took over Westbury shortly after we paid the deposit on the house, and they finished off the build.

We also had bad scratches on 3 of our panes of glass and did manage to get them replaced. They tried the key release form trick on us when I noticed the sandstone lintels under the windows were badly chipped in several places on both front downstairs windows. I argued that we couldn't have possibly done that damage and do they really expect people to carefully inspect every inch of the brickwork, window surrounds and glazing when they're moving in and spending weeks emptying boxes.

Keep at it and copy their Chief Exec and Watchdog in on any complaints.

I would NEVER buy another Persimmon home as they have displayed the most horrendously incompetent customer service I have ever encountered.

They know this and don't expect any of their customers to buy from them again. They can do something well and that is selling...
