Default Persimmon Homes

Hi. I have just discovered this website after having problems with Persimmon for about 21 months. I am at the end of my tether and I am hoping that someone managed to sort out their dispute succesfully. I also have probelms with windows, patio door, draft and as a result of that damaged carpet and curtains. Some of the snagging was not even considered as it was not on my "one month checklist". After two winters in the house they finally put some insulation on the second floor - or at least I hope so, could not take more time off at work to supervise them. However everything is a "goodwill gesture". I spoke to a surveyor on the phone, says the legal action can take years and I need a BIG budget. NHBC behaves like a builders club and the really annoying thing is that they pretend to do inspections, see all the problems and rule in favour of the builder. What a waste of my time. So if any of the previous contributors to that forum know anything, please let me know.

I too have problems with Persimmon Homes and the NHBC for over three years. It seems going to court will be the only option, depsite them having serious breaches of building regulations, breach of contract and breaches of NHBC Standards.

How much money are you looking to recover? I just discovered that you can claim online, which saves a trip to the local courthouse.

Over 75000 pounds.
We should all get in touch with the Ofice of Fair Trading who are investigating the new house builders as reported in the Observer 4 September

I bought a Persimmon home in May 2005 and I am still trying to get all the snags fixed. I bought the snagging list from this site, worth every penny for all the extra snags l found. Over 200 snags were found and there are still around 20 outstanding even after being told they usually only take a month to finish them.

Not at all impressed with the customer service provided afterwards, if I am lucky they return my calls and their organisation skills are appalling. I took it upon myself to continually send them updated snag lists as they seemed incapable of crossing them off themselves.

One of the worst examples was the guttering felt was left to run down the walls instead of feeding into the gutter. Appalling that this should pass their own quality inspection - I could even see the felt hanging down, let alone the water marks on the walls below.

Will be so glad when all the snags are completed. So annoying having to wait in for tradesmen to come out.

Marie, Take it from me and many many other Persimmon New Home Owners, Don't buy a Persimmon Home.
You'll be very upset if you do, it will be like buying a house that needs a full renovation, trust me.
Look for a better builder/developer.

:S I,m confused here ( a regular occurence for me !! ) I posted about poor quality carpentry on the above mentioned Persimmon sites ... those posts disappeared .. I apologised if I caused Tony any embarrassment  ... but my apology has gone !!!!

Eatay ... I know Persimmons have a poor reputation re quality. customer care etc but the location is perfect !!

Is there anything I can do to improve the quality of the carpentry ? .... talk to sales or site manager perhaps ?

Thanks ... hope I,m not causing anyone any problems by speaking up here ?

Hi Marie,

I haven't seen your post regarding carpentry. Could you post again?

Kind regards
