    Default Concerned possible new buyer

Hi all, I am very close to securing a Rufford home and would be grateful in anyone can provide feedback positive or negative as to snagging difficulties and also the 'after sales' care. I am also looking at Persimmion providing and fitting all floorings has anyone experienced this???A long winded question I know but I would really appreciate any direct feedback on this matter.

It is not unheard of for the builder to supply and fit carpets. They can even do Laminate flooring and vinyl. One word of warning, Persimmon's "finishing touches" is a licence fior THEM to print money. They even give the sales and site managers commission on what they charge!

If carpet is included it is usually very poor quality.

All in all you are better off getting your own supplier and fitters in to lay floor coverings. At least they wont get spoiled during all the re decorations and snagging!

Finally, get your new home professionally snagged BEFORE you complete the purchase. It will be money well spent - especially with '3 Star' rated Persimmon Homes.

    Default potential persimmon home buyer

I'm considering buying a Maitland from Persimmon in Glasgow at their Royal Mearns site. Ive read a lot of the relevant posts and have 2 main questions

    1. Are Persimmons generally worse than other builders?
    2. Is there anyone out there who could tell me about any experiences at Royal Mearns in Glasgow?

    thanks in advance

Don't even do it. finishing and carpets are a rip off and after care is horrendous. seem to spend my life getting passed between customer care, emergency care and sales at the moment. every single day brings another problem with the house.

thanks for the info. Your comments seem to echo most people. Can I ask which area you purchased in?

I bought in Oakridge Park in Milton Keynes, I'm the 3rd in my row to experience the same problem with the shower leaking down into the hall and tripping the fire alarm and crumbling the plaster. There is also a leak under the kitchen sink that has warped all our flooring. There is one sales lady who just cannot do enough for us but unfortunately she doesn't have the authority to action everything that needs doing. They just seem to knock up these buildings then leave you to deal with the consequences!

Incredibly, we have been informed that the plumbing problems are due to us "not using the shower properly" as the shower door is apparently not waterproof. Wish I had researched Persimmon better before buying- complete nightmare

If shower doors do not open INTO the shower like a bi-fold, but open out water droplets often run onto the floor.
This is not the builder's fault (or yours) just a design fault in the door itself.
Why this hasnt been fixed over the last ten years is beyond me!
