We moved into our new house on the Rockingham Court development in Corby, Northants in June 2008. It is a 3 story semi with dormer rooves to the front and rear, one in the bedroom and the other in the ensuite. About a month after we moved in we went out for the day leaving the dormer roof windows in the vent position. We came home after a rainstorm to find the carpet below the window in the ensuite was soaking wet. The water had run over the front of the roof onto the top of the window and dribbled down the inside into the house. It rained again during the night and the sound of the water bouncing on the cills as it came over the front of the rooves was like chinese water torture.
We complained, and complained, and eventually they did a temporary repair by applying a strip of clear silicone mastic ? to the front of each roof with a promise (in writing) to repair the problem when the weather improved (it was by now winter time)
Guess what they never did come back to do the repair. As a gesture of goodwill in their words they have put guttering to 2 sides of the front dormer (bedroom) but are refusing to do the same to the rear (ensuite).
Question is, do we have a case that is worth taking legal action over ?
Cheers
Steve
