Exclamation Buying a Persimmon Home? Read first!

If you are considering buying a Persimmon home then I suggest you are very careful when listening to the sales agents. Basically they lie.

We were told quite clearly we would get railings at the front of our house as the other properties on Tarka Point in Bideford have got, by the sales agent (twice). It was only after we exchanged contracts that we discovered we would not get one, and would look like the odd house without a railing. Obviously to pull out at that point would have cost over a thousand pounds so we had to carry on. I am now having to rely on the Small Claims court to get what we are owed.

It has taken us 6 months to get approx half of our snagging list done. The site manager says he will sort it out and then ignores you for a month or so.

These issues are quite trivial in the grand scheme of things, but this is your home. It needs to be stress free. I really would think twice before you buy a Persimmon home. There are plenty more out there, especially at this time of the market.

Hi Rally,

IF THE SALES AGENT READS IT LIKE A SCRIPT YOU ARE PROBABLY BEING RIPPED

Have a look at mybryanthomeiscrap.co.uk

Take them to court and don't waste anytime. If that is what was promised to you when purchasing then that is what you expect. I think it may be classed as mis-description. (Someone will say if this is right or not)

I really wouldn't bother Graham, they are rude and can't be bothered to help. The worst customer care I've experienced.

I agree. We bought a Charles Church house 18 months ago, and have ended up, after several changes of customer care staff and departments being closed, with Persimmon. This lot are rude, scary and ineffectual. They don't do what they promise, take ages getting round to things and then pick and choose what they will attend to. All they're interested in is your money. They don't care and they don't offer a service.

We bought a Persimmon home two years ago on the Mosaic Development in Peterborough. We were told that the development would be finished in six months and the common which our houses surround would be landscaped. We own only the first metre of our front lawn, the rest being "public area" and for Persimmon maintenance until such time as Peterborough council took it over. This lawn has been cut ONCE only this summer. The common, which until two months ago was still a desolate building site with a great mound of earth in the middle, was flattened but not seeded. It is now a forest of weeds, and our front lawn was a foot high when we returned from abroad last week.

The customer care section deals only in platitudes and promises. Never again!

Hi I am in the process of buying a persimmove n home from plan and although i have got myself a good deal i can confirm that the sales people are complete and utter lying arseholes, the company are a joke when it comes to customer service because all they care about is money. they want the best price for each property and will even give poor service to existing customers in the hope that they will pull out so that they can sell it to a customer who will pay more money. DO NOT BUY A PERSIMMON HOME EVER!!!

I bought my place in May 2008 and was told by the site manager that any things I find that need doing, just to let him know and he'll have it sorted. I wasn't given the customer service number to call or anything. Months after reporting things that weren't done, I finally called customer service who told me that as i never notified them of the issues at the time they have to now re-log the issus and I have to wait for them to get someone out to fix them. I explained that the site manager said he'd get everything rectified but never did and they said that he shouldn't have done that - no apology or anything.
Example - they have teh incorrct fire strip on my door and it made the handle really stiff to open and close - so much so that my wrists were in constant pain after 5 months of going in and out of my flat I stopped going out more than twice a day (to and from work). this was meant to have been resoved after 3 weeks and on week 6 I asked about it and was told that the wrong strip had been delivered to replace mine (although nobody had bothered to keep me updated and that I could choose between being broken into or having a fire risk!!!! 5 months later it was sorted but not before I mentioned the possibiliy of claiming due to RSI caused by their ineptitude....

customer services dept are also shockingly bad! I'd be embarrassed to work for them
