Please read before you ruin your life!

If you are planning to buy a Persimmon home, I suggest you are very careful as I (and my neighbours) would hate you to go through what we have. I can only comment on apartments.
-We were misinformed badly by sales advisor, don't believe a word
-Cheap heating (electric) installed. !st electric bill for 3 months for 1 bed flat over £600, that was being careful
-Myself and neighbours had no working heating system for over a year as no one could work out how to use it, including Persimmon, electrical contractors and electricians. Persimmon din't want to know, only got sorted when NHBC insisted they had to.
-all fittings very poor and cheap. Everything constantly breaking down and when workmen come to fix, all say repair won't last due to poor quality fittings, eg doors, locks, taps, cookers and hobs, everything basically
-Apartments all freezing as heating not adequate, several flats have mould growing, draughts from windows and doors, insulation non existent, damp already showing through.
-Persimmon customer care really don't care so god help you if you buy a new home and develop problems. All staff very rude and patronising
-Company used for management of flats terrible, despite paying £1000 a year we end up doing our own gardeing and cleaning if we want it done. Payment went up in 2nd year by £400 a year despite not knowing where money going.

Please, please don't buy from Persimmon unless you want to be miserable and very hard up, I can honestly say I couldn't wait to move in and now all I (and my neighbours) want to do is get rid, but it's n ot that easy!!!

i am thinking of buying a new home from this building company/ but now reading all the information on this site about persimmon homes i am now very concerned i have to make a decision by tomorrow. they are taking my house in part exchange....what shall i do

Dont mate, not even a house. It's one big con of a slaes pitch to get you sucked in, once they;ve got your money--they forget about you.

re the high electric bill, i'm aware that sometimes the night (econony 7) and the day meters have been wired the wrong way around, i kid you not
i'd suggest getting persimmon back if you can, if not get a sparky to take a look. it shouldn't cost too much to put right if this is the prob, it'll be quicker than taking on persimmon
what is the managment company? the complaints sound a lot like 'solitaire'

Sam Payne I completely feel for you, being a first time buyer I couldn't wait to move into my Persimmon Home. That feeling quickly changed once they started lying, they were rude once they had our deposit, they made us miserable, they constantly delayed the completion of the house with stupid excuses, I know buying a house is stressful but they took the biscuit! Since we have moved in we haven't had to deal with the sales staff thank goodness. However the site staff that are looking after our snagging list are not the best, they forget about us constantly and we chase them up all the time!
Don't buy Persimmon Homes unless you want an awful experience!

I agree, they are a bunch of villains.

HI , I strongly recommend that anyone thinking of buying a persimmon home DONT . they are crap, most new owners want to get rid not long after moving in when they start to find the problems that persimmon homes have.
