Sorry Birminghamlad, nothing much to report. These builders will often use the same contractors and the quality doesn't vary much between them. The builders in general rely on diligent staff to provide a good service and do a good job and do not have robust processes in place to ensure quality standards. With morale falling in the current climate, quality is going to take a downturn for sure.

Angry McInerney Homes

Unfortunately yes I have had dealings with McInerney Homes. I have never had so many problems with a new build. We ended up submitting a rather comprehensive snagging list - there were over 200 items!! E.g. the work was shoddy, unlevel floors, toilets not fitted to the walls, french doors that do not close, telephone numbers written in biro on the back of internal doors, paintwork half done, guttering which fell down, blocked drains etc etc I could go on. Their reluctance to complete the works has been appalling. The After care service is a disgrace - they do not respond to any forms of communications and the Customer Care Manager appears not to even understand the basic definition of "Customer Care". Sadly the fight goes on - if you buy a McInerney Home be prepared for a lengthy fight to get it to even the most basic standard of completion!!

Have to agree with Go Go on this one. This is my second new build (not both with the same builder) but McInerney are the pits. I too had a snagging list as long as both arms with things such as paintwork half done, lopsided cupboards, taps not fixed to sinks, sinks not fixed to walls etc etc .... I know have the problem that they just seem to have up and left the site. All building has been completed but the drives, causeways and roads are unfinished with loads and loads of loose shingle around causing issues with chipping paintwork on cars, more seriously it's also very unsafe underfoot. They have no sense of customer care and are just not bothered after people part with their hard earned cash. When I've tried to contact them I'm always fobbed off to someone else who amazingly is never available! Real cowboys these, I'd NEVER recommend them to anyone else.

Just wondered how everyone was getting on with the problems with McInerney, we bought off them last August, had an inital snagging list of 16 items, which has grown and grown and grown.
For example our kitchen doors were scratched we were told this was a natural charactristic of gloss doors, finally after getting the manufactuer involved they were replaced. The drains were not connected, we reported problems as soon as we moved in it took until June to finally sort the problem, we were unable to use one of our toilets during all this time. Last week after a water meter cover damaged my car, we have been telling them about these for months, they came along and fixed them with gaffer tape. A window was put in incorrectly, the front door frame was cracked, our roof has leaked, all the plaster work is shoddy. We have had to have the front of the house re-rendered, they had done this and now ruined our grass!
We have NHBC involved who I have to say have been great but as soon as one thing is fixed something else goes wrong, in a year we will be out of guarantee and I am sure we will still have the same issues. I wouldn't buy from them again and wouldn't have bought if I knew then what I know now.

Hi yes i bought a house from Lancing Homes who were bought out by Mc Inerney Homes, I have only lived in the house 5 years from new, we have 6ft of garden that doesn't belong to us, as the builder lied about the boundary fence, they did get planning permission from the council but that makes no difference, we have 11 thousand volt live electrical cable in my garden that we had no idea was there and flood water that runs for 8 to 29 days at a time following the cable, it is an unbelievable amount of water, I have a toilet man hole open to stop my house from flooding but now we have rats. Mcinerney are now responsible for this site but won't do a thing to help us, my house will subside because of the water but they wont help, look at their face book page , click on reviews i have attached a video of the flood. It really is the house from hell. or e mail me for more info and photos. 5 houses are affected. I would never buy from them now as these are huge problems but they dont care.

I completely agree with Go go when you say "The After care service is a disgrace " .

I purchased a home from the McInerney group 7years ago, the chimney breast that runs up through the
master bedroom started creaking back in Oct ’09 when the weather was very
windy. Again in Nov when there were high winds the creaking continued , we
were forced to move into the back bedroom. I rang the local office in Nov
‘09 through to Jun ’10 constantly asking that somebody in the maintenance
department call to the house to have a look at the chimney and also large
cracks that are on the ceiling of the dining room.

Eventually the maintenance guy called and said that they would repair the cracking and look into the problem with the chimney, that was back at the start of July and they have not yet come to fix the problem. I have sent letters , emails , rang offices and left voicemails. I was only recently informed that an Examiner had been appointed to McInerney
Homes and that the company would not be able to deal with my issues until they know the outcome of the court hearing - this court hearing took place 1 month ago and yet again I am waiting to hear from McInerneys. This is still on going
