Had lots of problems with strathclyde homes. Moved in 6 months ago and on that very day I reported a smell of dampness from the front hall, needless to say its still there and everytime it rains water comes in the front door. Many e-mails and around 20 phone calls and its still not fixed and they do not seem to be bothered. Not really getting anywhere at present and communication from them is absolutely shocking. Got the usual line when I moved in - 'dont worry - put that on your snagging list and it will be fixed no problem' - but there you have it - a new home stinking of dampness with no carpet as it had to be thrown out.

hi we have finally got a response from NHBC and are in the process of sending 152 e mails and 3 letters to them as a formal complaint. our solicitor is watching events closely. Our leak has been fixed and inside all redecorated but we noticed tonight the weepers have all been sealed up again which suggest more lies and deceipt from them. just about to send e mail 153 demanding some answers. sent them a sound clip of the noise this house makes (attached) and still awaiting response.
27 months of living hell .
we have even written to peter brogan asking him to buy our house from us to put an end to our suffering - funnily enough he never replied.

MD's hate being rung up at home of an evening and it seems to kick them into getting problems resolved - it seemed to work when I called up Keith Miller at home of an evening !(not that I condone stalking )

Peter Brogan - according to the electoral roll I have access to, there are 6 living in Scotland. A quick search of google shows the Strathclyde Homes one being from West Linton http://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?...&id=2334192005 which I understand is about 15 miles from Edinburgh.
Of the 6 in Scotland ,
1 is in Alva, Clakmansanshire
1 is in Glenrothes, Fife
1 is in Edinburgh
1 is in Lockwinnoch, Renfrewshire
1 is in East Kilbride, Glasgow
1 is in Bearsden, Glasgow.

My bet is the one in Edinburgh as Clackmananshire looks about 30 miles and Glenrothes about 45 miles. It's also near Silverknowes Golf Course, Bruntsfield Link Golfing Society & the Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh.

Well, Mr Brogan sent me a reply to a long e mail i sent them last night....only problem for him is it came to me inmstead of the person he intended it to go to...that'll teach him to not wait for his P.A.!! here it is in it's full glory and shows the utmost caring for his customers.

'Neil, please try to close this communication down. If we've fixed the problem, politely tell him to go away. If we havn't, we must do so asap.'

(Neil Freel is the technical director of corporate excuses.)

all has gone very quiet since i pointed out the error of his e mail skills.

we have received a letter from Srtahclyde basicaly absolving themselves of any further issues with this house.
The claim they 'mis diagnosed'the leak issue, what a load of rubbish, they didn't bother to do anything for 2 months and then jump on the first thing they think of which had already been repaired previoulsy.
They have closed all communication channels for me and i can no longer e mail or phone them with nay complaints.
How can it be that this indutry is so totally unregulated so they are able to do this?
It is sickening to be here after 26 months of constant issues and then they just walk away because i start applying real pressure to their MD to get off his *** and sort the issues. It is shocking and deeply upsetting to us.
I hope they read this , thedy have no cluse what affect their actions have on us lesser people.
NHBC thogh have asked for e mail sbetween us and are looking in to the issues i have raised which i suppose may be some shallow satisfaction to us.

Not wanting to complain too much but here is the recent developments of my complaint with my front door leaking for anyone to look at in the future.

Not to moan about my problem as we are all having problems but I'll leave my experience here for any future readers.

First reported 15th Sep 2006

I rang strathclyde homes the week before christmas to complain that my leaking flat has not been fixed - They say they will be having a meeting regarding the problem and get back to me. After the two week christmas break i get a voicemail message saying that at the end of february there will be extensive work carried out at my front door which will involve removing slabs, drains, dirt and something to do with an aqua channel. ( not knowing anything about this sort of thing i took there word for it). So on the 26th Feb i rang strathclyde homes to enquire when the work would be started and I was told the workmen were on site and they will not need access to my flat and the work will be started when its my turn. So to cut a long story short, no work has been carried out, No slabs hae been removed and no ground dug up at my door so I called them a few days ago to ask when work will be started as it was now a month after they said work would be started and guess what - They tell me that the work has been completed!!!! - Can you believe that!!

No slabs removed - No plants removed, no ground dug up.

The funny thing is that my neighbours are having the exact same problem and the problem now is that the door will not leak as we are coming into the warmer months so looks like I will have to revisit this problem when winter comes round again.

They did say that they would send a maintenance inspector around tomorrow to have a look but as its been dry all weekend there is no dampness/leak so thay are slowly trying to wear me out.

And im not complaining about a small leak here - a serious leak covering a large area that I have plenty of pictures of which I have e-mailed to strathclyde homes in the past.
