Just a thought British Gas are doing cavity wall insulation for £250 - it might be cheaper and less hassle to just pay them to fill the gaps.

Hi

I found out recently my Persimmon House, has absolutely no cavity wall insulation - in any wall!! I live on an estate where numerous properties are having cold and heat loss issues. I have involved the NHBC who inspected my property and found in my favour. I would suggest that you also do this as a starting point. I too have lived in my property for about 18months - although its taken this long to get anyhting resolved!

I have also decided to involve an independent surveyor, as I do not trust Persimmon and potentially a solicitor as I have had my heating on full blast for the last 18months and I believe compensation is more than justified. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has managed to get compensation for such issues?

Sorry to dragg up an old thread, but I believe myself and my immediate neighbours (3 terraced town houses) have this issue as well on a 2004 Persimmon homes.

NHBC told me to do one, CWI not covered under their guarantee, and Persimmon I got an email with someone else copied in (wonder why) telling me to check for drafts and replace any door/window seals. Oh and maybe run my heating longer or get it set up correctly

No reply to my response.

Any advice how to get these clowns to fix their mess, AND refund me the increase heating costs?

hi ! wondering how you have got on with persimmon with your cavity insulation?am in the process of part exchange with persimmon and they are have almost finished doing the brickwork on the house but a friend of mine as looked to see if the cavity as been filled!!!!!what a surprise they are empty ,not signed all legal documents yet till i confront the site agent when they return back in january......from what ive been reading the injection insulation is not the best solution as it has voids which create cold spots.HENCE black around your windows and black mold on the walls .chris!!

Most house builders use blown in fibres aftre the homes have been constructed but before drylining or plastering as holes are drilled on the inner skin blockwork to allow the fibres entry to the cavity.

I have not heard of any problems using this method and the main concern may be settlement of the loose fibres over time.

Get you new home PROFESSIONALLY SNAGGED is my advice before you move in.
