I'm new so please be gentle! I'm looking at a town house by Kendricks at the moment. We're happy with the finish etc but our biggest concern is what the sound proofing is like?
Townhouses are usually very small. A lot of room is taken up with the staircase. This can also mean it is difficult to get furniture upstairs. Amazingly some builders say "this is why flat pack furniture was invented".
You will also spend most of the time using the staircase, great if you want to keep fit.
It can also be difficult to sell this type of new house as they only appeal to a small minority of the buying public, being not suitable for older people, or young families.
Gardens are smaller and YES NOISE FROM NEIGHBOURS sound proofing can be a problem depending on the type of construction. Timber frame terraced houses could also be a death trap if there was a fire.
I don't know anything about Kendricks. I would warn that smaller builders may be even worse quality and sevrice wise than the nationals.
