Thumbs down Drumbow Homes - The Manse, Coalburn

Three years ago Drumbow homes built 18 houses in Coaburn, Lanarkshire and to this day the owners/occupiers are still left with many issues. To look at externally and internally the houses seem to be finished to very high standard, and during the build the site was by far one of the tidiest i've seen. HOWEVER....As mentioned in a previous thread, BY FAR the coldest house i have ever lived in. Hard to believe for a new build.

10 of the properties were initially provided with "free electricity" for almost 2 years due to industrial generators being on-site, which isn't a bad thing but when they decided to connect the properties to mains electricity, they dug up the already completed paths and lawns to the front of the houses and left ugly white meter boxes attatched to the front which are far from water tight. Clearly a safety issue. The paths and lawns were badly reinstated leaving a half-inch gap below my front door which you could see daylight through. The roads outside my property are still unfinished with the finishing layer of tarmac still to be laid. Drain covers and edging kerbs remain up to 1.5 inches above the surface leaving serious trip hazards not to mention the damage it is doing to our cars. We still have no street lights in place leaving it almost impossible to negotiate the many trip hazards and different road surfaces at night. Having two young children, this proves difficult. The downstair toilet has to be unblocked using draining rods every two weeks. If not, i have raw sewage running on my front grass right next to the front door. The land to the rear of the house was also owned by Drumbow was abandoned after prepairation for PHASE 2 which damaged a main sewer pipe. Still to this day the sewer pipe has formed a pool of human waste which runs down the hill towards a local stream, PAST the un-covered manhole that sits nearby. Local primary school kids walk straight past this land and often play ON the land, as there is nothing to stop them doing so. An Accident waiting to happen!!! Badly fitted internal doors need adjusting every few months... 2 of my storage heaters have packed in... back garden like a swamp most of the year... the list goes on.
As far as aftercare or customer service is concerned there is none. When trying to contact the company, the calls are either un-answered ( except for BT ANSWER) or the calls are not returned. The frustrated residents here are left fuming by the state the development has been left in. Not only unpleasant to look at but clearly dangerous. We have now passed the issues to NHBC and have a meeting with them to inspect the development in the next few weeks. Hopefully soon we will see some action and finally get the dream homes that Drumbow's flashy website promises. My personal opinion???.. Avoid.
