New homes would be a much lower standard and have MORE defects if the NHBC did not exist. They set the standards new homes are built to and make inspections to ensure these standarda are met.

As always, some homes slip through the net.

But the NHBC priority is improving new home standards and protecting the home buyer.
The house builders priority is making a PROFIT and protecting their Shareholders.
